En d\u2019autres termes, on cherche \u00e0 comprendre ce que la musique elle-m\u00eame nous dit, dans sa structure, sa composition, son rythme, sa relation au texte, etc. Cela est primordial pour aborder le chant syro-maronite. En effet, cette m\u00e9thodologie fut pour nous un r\u00e9f\u00e9rentiel majeur qui orienta notre travail de recherche. D\u2019autres parts, les enregistrements effectu\u00e9s par Ivar aupr\u00e8s de chantres maronites, comme le p\u00e8re Maroun Mrad OAM et autres, et que nous avons eu la chance de travailler sur, par l\u2019interm\u00e9diaire de M<sup>me<\/sup>&nbsp;Violaine Mochizuki que nous remercions infiniment, r\u00e9veill\u00e8rent la m\u00e9moire musicale de certains moines maronites avec lesquels nous avons travaill\u00e9, en retrouvant des m\u00e9lodies qui sombraient dans l\u2019oubli depuis plusieurs d\u00e9cennies. Enfin, quelques lignes ne suffisent pas pour pr\u00e9senter ce travail immense et pr\u00e9cieux \u00e0 la recherche d\u2019une sagesse musicale vivante. Toutefois, avec Ivar, nous retrouvons l\u2019\u00e9cho de la musique des anciens qui \u00ab&nbsp;poss\u00e9daient une connaissance parfaite de la composition de la m\u00e9lodie&nbsp;\u00bb. &nbsp;(Liban)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(German:) \u201eMit der Methode von Pater Ivar Schmutz-Schwaller h\u00f6rt man der Musik zu, bevor man sie in eine starre Theorie einschlie\u00dft, die mit dem, was sie ist, nicht vereinbart ist. Mit anderen Worten: Wir versuchen zu verstehen, was die Musik selbst uns sagt, in ihrer Struktur, ihrer Komposition, ihrem Rhythmus, ihrer Beziehung zum Text usw. Dies ist f\u00fcr die Ann\u00e4herung an den syro-maronitischen Gesang unerl\u00e4sslich. In der Tat war diese Methodik f\u00fcr uns ein wichtiger Bezugspunkt f\u00fcr unsere Forschungsarbeit. Andererseits haben die Aufnahmen, die Ivar mit maronitischen S\u00e4ngern wie Pater Maroun Mrad OAM und anderen gemacht hat und an denen wir durch die Vermittlung von Frau Violaine Mochizuki, der wir sehr dankbar sind, arbeiten durften, das musikalische Ged\u00e4chtnis einiger maronitischer M\u00f6nche, mit denen wir zusammengearbeitet haben, geweckt, indem sie Melodien wiederentdeckt haben, die jahrzehntelang vergessen waren. Schlie\u00dflich reichen ein paar Zeilen nicht aus, um dieses immense und wertvolle Werk auf der Suche nach einer lebendigen musikalischen Weisheit vorzustellen. Bei Ivar finden wir jedoch Ankl\u00e4nge an die Musik der Alten, die in seinem Kloster \u201eeine vollkommene Kenntnis der Komposition von Melodien\u201c besa\u00dfen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(English:) With Father Ivar Schmutz-Schwaller\u2019s method, one listens to the music before enclosing it in a rigid theory incompatible with what it is. In other words, we try to understand what the music itself is telling us, in its structure, composition, rhythm, relationship to the text, etc. This is essential to approaching Syro-Maronite chant. Indeed, this methodology has been a major reference point for us in guiding our research work. On the other hand, the recordings made by Ivar with Maronite singers, such as Father Maroun Mrad OAM and others, which we were lucky enough to work on \u2014 through the intermediary of Mrs Violaine Mochizuki, whom we thank very much \u2014 awakened the musical memory of certain Maronite monks with whom we worked, by rediscovering melodies which had been forgotten for several decades. Finally, a few lines are not enough to present this immense and precious work searching for living musical wisdom. However, with Ivar, we find echoes of the music of the ancients who possessed&nbsp;perfect knowledge of the composition of melody\u2018 traditions in his
